Downloading Scripts
You can quickly get all data collection scripts for a given location by going to the location in Xylok and clicking “Download ISO.” This will download an CD image file, which can be easily burned to a CD. How to burn this to disk depends on your operating system. For most Windows systems, right clicking the downloaded ISO file will give a “Burn disk image” option.
Inside the CD will be a directory for each machine at the location. For our example client’s “Testing” location, this is the result of downloading the opening the ISO:
Each folder has a README.txt, which gives general instructions for how to collect the data for that specific machine. More detailed instructions are in later sections of this chapter.
When viewing a machine, there is a “Download Script” button which will download everything needed to test that machine as a single ZIP file. Unzip it and the README.txt inside will give further instructions for using the contents.
The data collection scripts produced by Xylok are intended for use with a specific machine. They contain IDs that tie back directly into the Xylok database. If you re-use the same script on multiple machines and import the results in Xylok, all scans will be listed under the original machine the scripts were intended for.
There are ways to fix this, but the easiest approach is to simply add the machines to Xylok before collecting data and use the correctly targeted scripts from the beginning.
