Benchmark Questions and Answers
Some benchmarks require additional information to collect or analyze data. Some common examples include:
- Most networking device benchmarks need to know the management VLAN number, which can’t be determined automatically.
- Java configuration files which aren’t in the default location.
If there are any benchmarks which have questions, the questions and corresponding answers will appear in the Question Answers panel of the client, as well as applicable Locations and Machines:
In this screenshot, the Network VLAN question has been set to “vlan 1” manually. The other answers are not set, but display “Automatic” because they have scripts to search for the correct answer during data collection.
A question may also display “No answer,” meaning it has not been answered and there is no way to determine it automatically. When creating a script or importing results having “No answer” values may result in an error that not all questions have been answered.
Clients, Locations, and Machines can all have these values set, with the most local answer taking precedence. For example, if the Client level says the management vlan is “10,” a Location may override that to be “12” or it may inherit the Client’s value.
The screenshot above is from a Location inheriting its parent Client’s answer to a question.
