Implementation Guidance

This control does not apply to individual workstations, laptops, printers, etc. This control only applies to facilities containing concentrations of information system resources (e.g., datacenters, server rooms, mainframe computer rooms). The organization being inspected/assessed will establish and document the capability to shut off the power to facilities or areas within facilities containing concentrations of information system resources (e.g., datacenters, server rooms, mainframe computer rooms) in emergency situations.

Validation Procedures

The organization conducting the inspection/assessment obtains and examines documentation of the capability to shut off the power to facilities or areas within facilities containing concentrations of information system resources (e.g., datacenters, server rooms, mainframe computer rooms) in emergency situations. The purpose is to validate the organization has provided the capability of shutting off power in emergency situations.
