Implementation Guidance

The organization being inspected/assessed sanitizes equipment to remove all information from associated media prior to removal from organizational facilities for off-site maintenance or repairs IAW DoDM 5200.01-V3 for classified media and DoDM 5200.01-V4 for unclassified media. The organization must maintain written records of media sanitization.

Validation Procedures

The organization conducting the inspection/assessment obtains and examines written records of media sanitization to ensure the organization sanitizes equipment to remove all information from associated media prior to removal from organizational facilities for off-site maintenance or repairs.
